What It Is
The PolySafe Silicone Heat Guard Mat is a house-branded pressing accessory designed to protect heat-sensitive fabrics while maintaining the heat and pressure needed for durable DTF applications.
Placed between the heat press platen and the garment, the mat acts as a heat buffer and cushion, absorbing and dispersing direct heat while helping reduce the shiny “heat box” effect commonly seen on polyester and performance fabrics.
This is not a workaround or a shortcut — it’s a repeatable, production-friendly solution.
Why We Offer It
There are many techniques decorators use to avoid scorching or shine on polyester. Through our own production use, we’ve found this method to be the most consistent and easiest to implement, especially when running standard DTF press settings.
PolySafe allows you to:
- Keep proper heat and pressure
- Maintain strong transfer adhesion
- Reduce surface shine and edge impressions
- Press with confidence on heat-sensitive garments
Key Benefits
- Helps reduce heat shine (“heat box”) on polyester fabrics
- Buffers direct platen heat without lowering pressure
- Cushions garment edges for a cleaner finish
- Food-grade silicone construction
- Heat safe up to 464°F
- Large format covers most standard press platens
Recommended Use Settings (With PolySafe)
- Temperature: 300°F
- Pressure: Medium to heavy
- Time: 13 seconds (adds ~3 seconds to standard pressing)
These settings preserve adhesion while compensating for the heat absorbed by the mat.
Preheating Instructions (Important)
Before first use:
- Place the PolySafe mat directly on the lower platen
- Press at 300°F for 13 seconds
- Proceed with garment pressing
Preheating stabilizes the mat’s temperature and improves press consistency during production.
Handling & Safety
⚠ Caution: Mat becomes very hot during use
- The mat absorbs heat and may remain hot between presses
- Mat extends beyond most press platens — handle only from the ends
- Avoid touching the center area immediately after pressing
- Allow the mat to cool when not in continuous use
Who This Is For
- Decorators pressing 100% polyester or heat-sensitive garments
- Shops using DTF transfers on performance fabrics
- Anyone looking for a consistent alternative to reduced heat, cover sheets, or excessive repressing
Important Notes
- This mat does not eliminate the need for proper press settings
- Always test new garments and fabrics
- Results may vary based on press type, platen size, and garment construction
